Woven shirts · 300 MOQ · US, UK & Australian brands
Shirt Manufacturer for Fashion Brands
SDF Clothing is a shirt manufacturer producing custom woven button-downs from 300 pieces per style for US, UK and Australian brands.
Woven button-downs from 300 pieces per style. Poplin, oxford and flannel — 100–200gsm — with collar and cuff interfacing built to spec. Yarn-dyed checks and stripes available; those runs carry a higher fabric-mill minimum than solids.
Why SDF Clothing
Why brands order shirts from this factory
Woven shirts are a genuinely different production line from knitwear — loom-made fabric, collar and cuff interfacing, buttonhole and placket construction. We run dedicated woven lines alongside our knit production, so you get the same certified clothing manufacturer standards whether your line is t-shirts, polos, or button-down shirts. Full private label, OEM, and ODM available.
Poplin, oxford, and flannel weaves, 100–200gsm depending on fabric. Solid piece-dyed or yarn-dyed checks and stripes. AQL 2.5 inspection before every shipment.
Key Facts
Styles & Fits
Shirt Styles We Produce
Oxford is the volume style: basket-weave texture, slightly heavier hand than poplin, the default casual button-down. Poplin is smoother and crisper — the right base if the shirt needs to sit under a blazer or take a spread collar without collapsing. Flannel is brushed, 150–200gsm, and needs a different needle and stitch density than poplin or the nap pulls.
Camp collar and Hawaiian silhouettes drop the fused collar stand entirely — a different pattern, not a trimmed oxford. Overshirts and shackets are cut from heavier cloth (corduroy, twill, or a denim-weight weave) with a roomier chest and often two flap pockets; treat them as outerwear at the tech-pack stage, not as a thick shirt. Denim shirts run on the denim line — construction and wash live on our denim manufacturer page, not here.
Fit is independent of weave. We grade a standard retail block, a slimmer side-seamed block, and an oversized/dropped-shoulder block from the same spec sheet. Sleeve length and body length are the two measurements clients most often change from a reference garment.
Fabric
Weaves We Run
Poplin is smooth and crisp, the standard for casual and formal button-downs. Oxford is slightly textured and more casual. Flannel is brushed for a soft, warm hand-feel. Poplin and oxford typically run 100–140gsm; flannel runs heavier at 150–200gsm.
Solid piece-dyed fabric is the standard option. Yarn-dyed fabric — where the thread is dyed before weaving, used for checks, stripes, and chambray — is also available, though minimums typically run higher than solid colors because of the fabric mill's own lot-size requirements.
Linen is available for summer programs; it wrinkles in a way poplin does not, so we flag expected crease behaviour at sampling rather than trying to finish it into a poplin hand-feel.
Construction
Collar, Cuff and Construction
Woven fabric is made on a loom rather than knitted, so it doesn't stretch the same way as jersey or piqué and needs different cutting, interfacing, and buttonhole/placket construction — a genuinely different production line from our t-shirt or polo runs, not just a different fabric.
Fused or sewn-in interfacing, button-down or spread collar, and single or double-button cuffs are all standard construction options we build to your tech pack or a reference sample, along with a chest pocket with or without flap.
Order Types
Private Label, OEM, and Cut-Make-Trim
Most shirt orders are private label: your woven neck label, care label, and packaging on our production. OEM follows your tech pack exactly — collar stand height, interfacing weight, button spec, stitch-per-inch on the placket. If you already have a shirting mill, CMT is available; that arrangement runs at a 5,000-piece minimum rather than 300, because a yarn-dyed or piece-dyed shirting lot does not cut economically below mill minimum.
Yarn-dyed checks and stripes often raise the fabric minimum even on OEM, because the mill weaves that pattern to its own lot size before we cut. We confirm that number at quote, before you approve a tech pack. Still deciding the model? Our OEM vs ODM vs CMT comparison and private label guide cover the practical differences.
Getting Started
Sampling, Sizing & Lead Time
A proto sample typically takes 12–16 days once we have a tech pack or a reference shirt — a few days longer than a jersey tee because collar, cuff and placket each get their own fit check. Up to 10 free revision rounds are included before bulk cutting. The two things that most often need a second sample are collar stand height and sleeve pitch; send a wearable reference if you have one.
Bulk production runs 35–50 days after pre-production sample sign-off. Every order is inspected to AQL 2.5 before packing. Size runs grade to your spec or, if you do not have one yet, our size chart guide covering US, UK and EU conversions. Labels and packaging are sourced during sampling — garment labels guide if you have not briefed those yet.
Shirt Manufacturer FAQ
What's the minimum order for a shirt style?
300 pieces per style, split across sizes and up to 3 colors or patterns. Yarn-dyed check or stripe patterns (as opposed to solid, piece-dyed fabric) sometimes carry a higher minimum since the fabric itself has to be woven to a mill lot size before cutting.
What's the difference between a woven shirt and a knit t-shirt in production?
Woven fabric is made on a loom (threads crossing at right angles) rather than knitted, which means it doesn't stretch the same way and needs different cutting, interfacing (collar and cuff stiffening), and buttonhole/placket construction. It's a genuinely different production line from our t-shirt or polo runs, not just a different fabric.
What fabric weaves do you offer for shirts?
Poplin (smooth, crisp, the standard for formal and casual button-downs), oxford (slightly textured, more casual), and flannel (brushed for a soft, warm hand-feel) are our most common weaves, typically 100–140gsm for poplin/oxford and 150–200gsm for flannel.
Can you do yarn-dyed checks and stripes, not just solid colors?
Yes. Yarn-dyed fabric (where the thread is dyed before weaving, used for checks, stripes, and chambray) is available alongside solid piece-dyed poplin and oxford. Yarn-dyed minimums are typically higher than solid-color minimums because of the fabric mill's own lot-size requirements.
Do you build collar and cuff interfacing to spec?
Yes — fused or sewn-in interfacing, button-down or spread collar, single or double-button cuffs, chest pocket with or without flap, are all standard construction options we build to your tech pack or a reference sample.
How long does a shirt order take from sample approval to shipment?
35–50 days for bulk production after sample approval — slightly longer than a knit t-shirt run because of the extra construction steps (interfacing, buttonholes, collar assembly). Proto and fit samples typically take 12–16 days. Our manufacturing cost guide breaks down what drives price per unit.
